Prediction: 4 Fashion Trends We’ll Be Seeing on the Emmy Red Carpet

Who’s ready for some ball gowns?

The Emmy Awards are on Sunday night, and while we don’t have a crystal ball, we do have an expert on hand to predict the four major fashion trends we’ll see on the red carpet. Fashion oracle and Net-a-Porter senior style editor Tracy Taylor outlined some of the major trends we’ll be seeing on Sunday night, so that you can prep for the preshow and impress your squad with how much you know about style.

Trend #1: Black and White

“Nothing’s more timeless on the red carpet, and this season we’ll likely see it done in all kinds of silhouettes,” Taylor tells Glamour. “Standard sweetheart necklines yes, but also more daring shapes that rely on the color combo to stay just a little safe.”

Trend #2: Modern Romantics

Taylor forecasts dark lace and high necks with lace-up heels finishing off lots of looks. “There’s something very relevant right now about a dark, gothic-like dress with a nod to the Victoriana age.”

Trend #3: Bold Colors

The Emmys kick off awards-show season and, as such, is a good time for Hollywood to make a style splash. “A bright pop of color is perfect and one of the best ways to make a statement,” she says.

Trend #4: Bohemian Luxe

“This is a gorgeous option for the red carpet right now, and the key is to keep it really luxurious. Dresses should be paired with lush velvet and gold accessories, and definitely a killer heel, says Taylor.” The key to making a maxi glamorous, not beachy, is to pick long sleeves over bare arms and a fabric that has a heavier weight than something too floaty.
