On Thursday, the 6th of October, I had the pleasure of witnessing the Queen of Spades show being the grand opening of Arab Fashion Week 2016. Lamya Abedin’s line exudes antique, yet bohemian and sophisticated glamour. Her SS ’17 fashion show remains true to what her collections generally are: long, feminine and elegant pieces. This collection however pushed some boundaries in the form of funky sequin, glitter and patterns, which were well suited for her circus-themed fashion show. Some of her pieces offered shiny fabrics which enhanced an opulent flair, such as a bodysuit that is fully sequined in black, silver, gold, brown and nude color. For women who like effortlessness in their clothing, she presented many bohemian dresses that reach the floor in length in a wide range of designs. From romantic colors to polka dots to a velvet material along with a belt to highlight the feminine area: those attributes, respectable yet fierce ladylike pieces, continue to be her expertise.
My personal little highlight was the designer’s adorable daughter, who is not only her main model for Baby Spades on her website, but was also walking the catwalk as part of the closing of the fashion show (I had to take a picture with her as well, see all photos below).
