Steven Van de Rijt a Dutch designer

New and upcoming designer portrait

It is always exciting to follow somebody’s success story, so here we would like to make you aware of an upcoming designer. Not only as an inspiration for young creatives, but also to appreciate or understand that the clothing we purchase has, in most cases, a long story behind it before we get to see it hanging on the racks of our favorite boutiques. The circumstances of each designer have a big impact on their creative outcome. So here is one of those Bios of a designer that we believe will have a lot of success.

Steven Van de Rijt is a Dutch designer based in Eindhoven in the Netherlands.

During his study of Fashion Techniques at the Summa College he has discovered his enthusiasm for craftsmanship and graduated having his own collection, calling it The Final Conqueror, in 2011. The collection was displayed at the Dutch Design Week the same year.

In 2012 he began his study at the School for the Arts in Utrecht, where he had designed another collection named 2DIE4, which was selected by the high-end warehouse De Bijenkorf to be presented at their special in-store event. Van de Rijt experienced the design process and realization of the popular fashion house Viktor&Rolf in Amsterdam during his 5 month internship there, which inspired him even more to follow his passion.

This year he graduated with his collection called Couture De Jour, which was showcased at Hoog Catharijne, a mall in Utrecht.

He achieved recognition and design award nominations in his home country the Netherlands, but also in Germany and Italy. He was asked to present his graduation collection in multiple Fashion Weeks around the globe: Amsterdam, London, Vancouver and Shanghai.

Van de Rijt’s focus at the moment is winning the Talent Award 2016 at the celebrated Glow Festival and has plans to create a new collection, firstly under the label STEVENVANERYT, to accomplish his big break through internationally.
