Dutch Design Center in Dubai

Dutch Design Center

2020 is not only going to be a big year for the beautiful city of Dubai, because the Dutch government has significant plans to become Europe’s most creative economy by the same year. We all know the Netherlands as an exciting and diverse European country. The focus of the homeland to the wooden shoe, the clog, is now to internationalise its national creative sector. In order to achieve that goal, the Dutch creative sector has decided to place their first physical location here, in Dubai Design District, which is the Middle East’s leading design destination, calling it the Dutch Design District. Good move, don’t you think?
The Dutch Design Center is becoming the most valuable representation of the Dutch creative sector outside of the Netherlands. The concept is an innovative online and offline platform for the leading and latest of the country’s designs to encourage collaborations internationally. The main strategy behind it is to have an inclusive and dynamic community that exchanges knowledge, generates opportunities and educates about all things creative.

The Dutch Design Center is the visionary result of four leading Dutch firms named HunterDouglas, Keller Kitchens, Royal Ahrend and Skyne. Their aim is not only to target the approximately 5000 Dutch nationals living in Dubai, but to connect to other cultures and nationalities on a state-of-the-art level.
In a few years, Dubai will be the global hub of ideas that drives an innovation-led economy and the Dutch creative sector sees that and wants to be a part of it. The Dutch Design Center will launch in December 2016 and the DDC invites you to be inspired by the essence of Dutch design craft.
