d3 are collaborating again with The Design Studio by Azza Fahmy (DSAF) in partnership with 55FIFTY7 Jewellery to offer a second jewellery making and design course. The course lasts five days and runs from the 5th – 9th March 2017. Fees are AED 5,000 per course including materials, casting and tool rental for the duration of the course. Chasing and Repoussé
Transforming sheets of metal into works of art.
Under the careful tutelage of the Italian Master Fabrizio Acquafresca, students will learn Chasing and Repoussé in the Italian style. Through the proper use of various specialized tools, they will study and implement the classical Italian approach to transform sheets of metal into reliefs and other works of art.
The course consists of five days of lessons, the first of which will include an introduction to the course and an explanation to the use of the tools, followed by illustration and selection of the different materials.
After that, students will start practicing, through the execution of an assigned project; creating a dragonfly. Over the other 4 days of lessons students are allowed to bring their own design ideas and develop them all the way through to completed pieces of jewelry. They will be able to create several pieces, according to the complexity of their projects and their individual work-rate.
Anything may be created, including bracelets, earrings and pendants, possibilities are endless.
