As in March 2017, the long-‐awaited Vogue Arabia has finally been launched in print. However, following the magazine’s traditions, it was first digital and accessible on the vogue.me platform, in both English and Arabic, since October 2016. The magazine will be distributed in Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Qatar, Kuwait, Oman, the United Arab Emirates and many other countries in the Middle East. In order for the new title to succeed, Vogue Arabia is published in partnership with Nervora. The Saudi princess Deena Aljuhani Abdulaziz was appointed as Editor in Chief for her expert fashion opinion. Having a deep understanding of both Western and Arabic cultures, she is a source of inspiration for local and international designers. On the cover of the first edition, you can see the supermodel, Gigi Hadid, in two different poses. Half Palestinian, Gigi is wearing a floral beaded scarf over her head in a « black in white » photograph. Hadid stated that her appearance « meant the world to her » as it reminded her of her origins. She then posted the photo of the cover on Instagram and said “I think the beautiful thing about there being international Vogues is that, as a fashion community, we are able to celebrate and share with the world, different cultures. I hope that this magazine will show another layer of the fashion industry’s desire to continue to accept, celebrate, and incorporate all people & customs and make everyone feel like they have fashion images and moments they can relate to… & learn and grow in doing so.”. Posted less than 24 hours ago, the photo has already reached almost 1 million likes. On top of that, she tagged
@voguearabia which now has 115K followers. One could assume that Hadid may become an ambassador of the title Vogue Arabia and choosing her for the ever first cover will certainly up the sales as she is one the most popular and loved faces of the past couple years around the world.
