BENCHELLAL

With all the new spring/summer campaigns arising in the fashion scene, there are always going to be a new talent to watch, and right now that talent’s name is Mo Benchellal. Now Mo is no stranger to the fashion scene, after graduating from Mode Lyceum Amsterdam he has also worked for a number of Dutch designers. These days Mo is all about his own brand, which goes by Benchellal, and his clothing embodies his name with a distinct signature style; it could be described as a little off the wall but ever so slick and well thought out.

“I play with the combinations of past vs. future and tradition vs. innovatory. My style has always drawn inspiration from a particular version of chic.” -Mo

Mo Benchellal’s designs take classic pieces from a wardrobe, such as trench coats, blouses, poofy dresses, and long flare pants. But what Mo produces is no basic wardrobe; whether it’s exaggerated poof on the arms of a blouse, a coat that is cinched at the waist and shaped like a ball gown, or a super sexy strapless dress dripping in gold, each piece on it’s own makes a statement. Benchellal’s Spring/Summer campaign is everything one might expect from Mo and more. Shot by photographer Tim Verhallen, each piece, and the whole collection, is so breath taking it almost doesn’t need an introduction. After a quick look, or a very long “I need that dress” stare, it is no surprise why Mo Benchellal is one to watch on the fashion scene.
