4th December 2017: The countdown is on until music legend Sir Elton John takes to the Autism Rocks Arena stage on the 8th December for his first ever live show in Dubai. Today, one of the country’s hottest new bands, VANDALYE, has been confirmed as the official Red Bull Opening Act.
Founded in Dubai two years ago, Belgium-New Zealand twins Thomas and Lucas along with English-rooted singer Scott, came together to create a folky piano and guitar-driven sound like no other in the region. Having previously supported acts such as Lionel Richie at the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix in 2016, this year VANDALYE received a Highly Commended Nightlife Award for ‘Best Dubai Act’ from Time Out Dubai Magazine. The band are currently producing their debut album in Hamburg, Germany.
Red Bull Opening Acts (RBOA) is an initiative the beverage behemoth started in the UAE back in 2013. RBOA provides artists from the UAE and the wider Arab world with the chance to perform ahead of some of the world’s biggest acts when they come to play for tens of thousands of people in the Emirates.
To get revellers into the party spirit Radio 2 Presenter and DJ, Sonya Mac, will also be on the decks from 6pm until 8pm. Famous for her weekday breakfast shows at Radio 2 UAE, Sonya has been in the radio and broadcast industry for seventeen years presenting for some of the world’s biggest stations and playing to crowds in both the UAE and her home country of Ireland.
Those lucky enough to have a ticket for Sir Elton John’s long-awaited Dubai debut will be treated to an epic repertoire of hits spanning over five decades. Along with his band, fans will be treated to chart-topping records as part of the Wonderful Crazy Night tour including ‘Rocket Man’, ‘I’m Still Standing’, ‘Don’t Let the Sun Go Down on Me’ and ‘Candle in the Wind’.
Doors will open for the seated-gig at 6pm and concert-goers are urged to arrive as early as possible to guarantee the best seats as there will be a free seating policy in each category. There will also be a variety of food and beverages available to purchase throughout the evening with a AED50 F&B voucher given to every attendee.
Additionally, concert-goers are advised to utilise RTA taxis and the free transport provided after the venue from 12.00am, dropping off at three locations including Dubai Mall, Deira City Centre and Mall of the Emirates.
There are three access roads to and from the venue which can be utilised including two entrances on Al Ain Road (E66) and an entrance on Emirates Road (E611). Road signage directing traffic are visible on both roads and detailed directions can be viewed in these informational videos.
