Dubai, United Arab Emirates, 18 January 2020: Thousands of residents and visitors came together for the opening weekend of Swyp Market Outside the Box (MOTB), a part of the milestone 25th edition of Dubai Shopping Festival (DSF). The annual pop-up al fresco market (running until 1 February) is now in its seventh year; offering visitors plenty of entertainment, street-style food trucks, kids’ play areas and a unique shopping experience to include one-off global brand activations along with popular homegrown brands and local designers to shop from.
Day one visitors enjoyed the performance by Emirati vocal sensation, Shamma Hamdan – the first Emirati woman to make it to the finals of Arabs Got Talent. Her breathtaking performance brought Burj Park, Downtown Dubai to life and the vibe was remarkable.
With an atmosphere that is reminiscent of a carnival, visitors treated themselves and their loved ones to homegrown handcrafted art, beautiful home decor, stylish clothing and accessories and lots of food at the market’s many food trucks and live cooking stations. Swyp MOTB was truly a family affair, as children enjoyed the Kids Zone for free on the first day where inflatables, a zipline and craft workshops kept the little ones entertained for hours whilst adults checked out over 70 stalls of artisanal products and bespoke, home-made knick-knacks. Sneaker fans were able to customise their new kicks in the Nike customisation zone.
Swyp MOTB is the flagship market activation of DSF and will run until 1 February at Burj Park, Downtown Dubai, from 4pm to 10pm on weekdays, 4pm to 11:30pm on Thursdays and 11am to 11:30pm on weekends. There is more to come to entertain visitors with live music including drummers, singers, saxophonists, dance performances, school talent performances and much more!
