Kristel Bechara reveals a Superheroes collection dedicated to inspiring Courage and Imagination

In a time of a global pandemic, Kristel Bechara looks to the Superheroes for motivation, inspiration and fearlessness and wants to share these sentiments with the community through her art.

Although they are a part of pop culture, these Superheroes represent bravery, conscience and victory over good versus evil. These pieces were developed as the artist was moved by the very poignant quotes and messages of the characters.

Now more than ever, the artist looks to these Superheroes to invoke strength and courage to deal with life during a pandemic. As each piece represents a different characteristic, she wants her art to project positive thoughts and emotions associated with each Superhero.

The collection includes a variety of Marvel, DC, Star Wars and other icons with each developed based on a quote or idea propelled by their stature and motives.

Kristel Bechara has developed this collection through digital and acrylic works which are created with her unique and innovative method using photographic imagery with oil, acrylic and giclée printmaking mediums to depict emotion.

“Once a heroic Jedi Knight, Darth Vader was seduced by the dark side of the Force, became a Sith Lord, and led the Empire’s eradication of the Jedi Order. He remained in service of the Emperor — the evil Darth Sidious — for decades, enforcing his Master’s will and seeking to crush the fledgling Rebel Alliance. But there was still good in him…” excerpt from the official Star Wars website.

This artwork is the artist’s representation of Vader’s goodness and beauty that still exists within the most iconic and evil character in film history.

“It’s not who I am underneath, but what I do that defines me.” Bruce Wayne/ Batman.

“They’re only as good as the world allows them to be. See I’m not a monster, I’m just ahead of the curve. They laugh at me because I’m different; I laugh at then because the’re all the same.” The Joker – Heath Ledger.

Harleen Quinzel is immune to various toxins and also to the Joker’s venom and toxic gas. She is a trained gymnast, athletic, agile and dangerously unpredictable in a fight. She is a formidable opponent. She is also well educated and has a PhD in psychology. Her energetic, affable and animated personality is enough to make anyone love her, fatal mistake. Because Love makes one do crazy things, Harley Quinn became a deranged and psychotic super-villain; She is the poster girl for chaos’ terrifying allure. “I found the Joker’s psyche disturbing, his dementia alarming — and his charm irresistible! What can I tell ya? The guy just did it for me.” – Harley Quinn.

Vowing to serve his country any way he could, young Steve Rogers took the super soldier serum to become America’s one-man army. Captain America represents the pinnacle of human physical perfection and a symbol of freedom and liberty.

Superman’s cousin and Secret Weapon! “We don’t do it for the glory. We don’t do it for the recognition… We do it because it needs to be done. Because if we don’t, no one else will. And we do it even if no one knows what we’ve done. Even if no one knows we exist. Even if no one remembers we ever existed”. Kara Zor-El

Guy Fawkes (c1570) is known to have been pleasant and cheerful in manner, opposed to quarrels and strife. He is also known for having been a conspirator in the failed Gun-Powder Plot. He was tried an executed for treason in 1606. This is the artist’s version of the “restyled” Guy Fawkes mask, as it first appeared in the “V For Vendetta” movie in 2006. It initially became popular and widely known as the “Epic Fail Guy”; but then inspired Anonymous, “The hacktivists”, to adopt the Guy Fawkes mask as an icon and fashion item. We are never quite sure if they are the heroes or villains.

Not all Superheroes wear Capes! “With great power comes great responsibility.” This is my gift, my curse. Who am I? I’m Spiderman.
