Bakhodir Jalal’scareer spans over 40 years and covers a remarkable period in history of his native Uzbekistan. He is one of the most influential artists producing works that merge various techniques with reference to this country’s ancient traditions, heritage and socio-political climate. “A line to eternity” is one of recent publications about the journey of Bakhodir Jalal. His artworks have been displayed in international museums and collected by royal families.
Javlon Umarbekov
Javlon Umarbekov’s work reflects both his cultural heritage and the influence of art from all corners of the globe. Born in 1946 in Tashkent, Umarbekov began exhibiting his works both within the Soviet Union and abroad in 1964. He has won many prizes throughout his career, recognising his eye for detail, his poetic mastery of the brush, and his representation of movement, and his works are now housed in many of the world’s most prestigious galleries. Umarbekov was awarded the honorary title People’s Artist of Uzbekistan in 1989, and is a professor at the Bekhzod National Institute of Art and Design in Tashkent.
Andrey Krikis
Born in 1950, Andrey Krikis oeuvre explored the expressive potential of painting in abstract and semi abstract form. He lived during USSR when the state exercised almost total control on art production.Through his art, Krikis gradually disengaged from the ordered strategies, and moved toward an art based on intuition and synthesis that celebrates an exuberance of colour. Being an independent artistic nature, Andrey Krikis continued to paint, demonstrating his bright individuality and originality. His works were displayed at group and personal exhibitions in Samarkand, Tashkent and Russia, and later abroad.
The exhibition will run from 27th October 2020 until 31st January 2021
