MFW | MARYLING SS23

Together we are Stronger, Couples who Art”: the MARYLING SS23 collection reflects and amplifies admiration for everything around it, stopping to contemplate the wondrous light of summer and the power of water, the true protagonist of nature. And it is precisely the aquatic reflections with their nuanced shades and transparencies and the dynamism of its waves that inspire the endemic movement of a proposal that is never the same, exactly as it is in nature. It is studied, interpreted, and reimagined by historical artistic couples: from Josef and Anne Albers to Jean and Sophie Tauber Arp and up to Sonia and Robert Delaunay, accomplices of an inspiration found in different artistic fields to which MARYLING makes reference to create its aesthetic path.

Eclectic creatives with multifaceted talent, these passionate artists with a cultural background expressed through art full of content fascinate the brand that reinterprets their essence. The jade green and gilded bronze colors of the totally abstract shapes of Jean Arp found in paintings and sculptures become the basis for the colorful abstract prints of MARYLING. It is a cultured and casual combination of different shades, including indigo, peach, golden rust, cobalt blue, sapphire and burnt mandarin framed by ocher and classic black & white.

The enchanting workmanship of the collection features knitting and weaving that celebrates the “make do and mend” concept and the eclectic combination of a variety of patterns, colors, and prints characterized by floral motifs that are both graphic and organic.

MARYLING chooses fine textures such as habotai silk and georgette with geometric or colorblock motifs together with crisp cotton poplin gauze in shades of sky blue, grass green, and coconut white to create fresh blouses and flowing daytime dresses, some belted, others with bohemian ruffled collars, and still others with sleek lines. There are also oversized textured tailored creations with check motifs interwoven with brilliant yellow and dusky turquoise and long maxi-dresses with prints of purple and cobalt blue floral hedges that have iconic silhouettes and the romantic flavor of the seventies.
